The game was a pitching duel between Gonzalez of Cuba and Cole of USA until the 7th inning with both teams remained horse-collar. Maggi of Team USA tie breaking homer in the top of the 8th which was tied by a solo homer of Despaigne against reliever, Noe Ramirez. Cuba was prevented from winning by reliever Nick Ramirez and the game went into extra innings for the 3rd time of this Championship. In 10th inning, USA scored a run during double play and added a run by a timely safe hit. However, Despaigne of Cuba smashed a come-from-behind 3 run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning bringing dramatic Gold medal victory for Cuba.

Ito of Japan hit a two run homer in the 1st inning and added a run in the 2nd by a timely hit of Ishimine. Hasegawa hit a bases-cleaning double in the 4th inning when Japan scored 6 runs in total. Starting pitcher Hasegawa horse-collared Korea by striking out 10 batters till the 5th inning and the next pitchers on the hill also kept Korea scoreless.
